Aloha Pele Painting

Painting: "Aloha Pele"

Anniversary Gift

If anyone follows me on twitter (via facebook status?), they know I've recently taken up painting and won't shut the hell up about it. This is because I've never painted before and I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Hence it takes an extremely long time to get the most remedial painted image, cutting into any other life activity I could possibly tweet about. Get into tweeting bitches.

When my parent's 41st Wedding Anniversary rolled around, I was like, hey I'm teaching myself to paint, I'll paint you a picture. I pitched them on the idea that I'd paint them a tiki mask -- because I stole all their real tiki masks for my tiki room in my apartment. What I didn't tell them is that I was also going to paint a HOT BROAD in it too.

One of the projects I wanted to paint is a series of stylized retro pin-up girls, each one depicting a unique genre, and this was going to be my start. It is inspired by Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of Volcanos. My parents are coming into town on monday to pick it up. I've conveniently made it just the right size to fit next to all the other crap I've given them over the years, in the laundry room closet.
